Currently the Program Executive for University of Colorado at Colorado Springs’ unique Bachelor of Innovation™ Family of Degrees, Dr. Polok can speak to the topic of Work-Life Balance from that vantage point alone. Her lifetime of experience adds invaluable perspective, with Dr. Polok: 

• Advancing to the leadership team of a division of an international company by the time she was 26

• Completing a PhD program 100 miles away from home, starting when her children were 1 and 5 years old

• Teaching full time while raising two kids and starting a consulting business

• Advancing to the leadership team of a business unit in another international company with 5 divisions and 2,000 employees in 25 countries

• Filling up a passport while training and consulting around the world

• Managing the Bachelor of Innovation™ program, two LLCs, an aging mother and finding time to be with the new granddaughter.

The Lucy Hobbs Project invites you to share that perspective August 11 at Hotel Elegante in Colorado Springs during an evening of networking and education. Dr. Emily Batson will also give a brief presentation on case acceptance. Special guests will include Dr. Kimra Hall and Dr. Christina Sletten.

In lieu of a fee for the event, which offers one CE credit and dinner, attendees are asked to bring a donation of healthy snacks to benefit Community Partnership for Child Development. Requested donations include unsweetened fruit and vegetable juices, canned fruits in natural juices, unsweetened cereals, unbuttered popcorn, pretzels (low-salt) and plain crackers. The National Head Start Association is committed to the belief that every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, has the ability to succeed in life.

The initiative, powered by Benco Dental, is named to honor Dr. Lucy Hobbs, the first woman in dentistry. Born in 1833, Lucy was refused admission to dental school because of her gender.  But she persevered, eventually learning dentistry as an apprentice, graduating from the Ohio College of Dental Surgery, and becoming the first licensed female dentist in 1866.
