Let’s talk style

Back in the day, women’s watches were just diminutive versions of men’s.
Incisal Edge dental lifestyle mag showcases a half-dozen new ones prove that concept to be an anachronism.

One factor common to “golden eras” is that you never quite know when you’re in one. Yet considering the array of new high-end smartwatches and the recent profusion of watch-related digital and social media, there hasn’t been a better time in decades to explore and invest in analog horologyThe study and measurement of time. — and that goes double for women’s watches, says Aaron Sigmond, contributor for Incisal Edge.

“Women’s timepieces have typically fallen into just two categories: dainty with a dash of fussy, and smaller versions of men’s models. No more: Watchmakers of all kinds now craft exceptional women’s collections for sports, dress, casual or some combination of the three.”

Sigmond takes a shine to Chopard Imperiale La Vie En Rose (shown, chopard.com, $4940), a limited edition in polished steel (just 100 were made), which he describes as “the perfect sophisticated-day-to-elegant-business-casual-night watch”.

“Chopard is a Swiss luxury house that makes timepieces and jewelry; its artistic director, Caroline Scheufele, is watch-industry royalty. This watch’s dial center is garlanded with a rose mother-of-pearl motif; its crown is set with an amethyst and the strap is pink alligator. In case you’re wondering where all the pink alligators have gone.”
