Three years ago, dental industry expert Mike Mountain contacted the president of the local dental education group with a big idea: Create a direct line of communication between local dental care providers and the companies creating today’s leading edge technology.
Today he is preparing for the largest gathering of dental manufacturers in Tennessee to exhibit in one place in more than 10 years: the Third Annual Middle Tennessee Dental Extravaganza.
“This has grown from an idea shared with the leader of a 30 member Seattle study club to an expo, which in 2013 included in excess of over 600 attendees from Missouri, Kentucky, Alabama and all parts of Tennessee,” said Mountain, a Monterey resident, of the daylong event scheduled to take place November 20 at Embassy Suites and Convention Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The study club leader Mountain approached: Oral Surgeon Mark Hardison, who owns and operates Middle Tennessee Oral and Implant Surgery in Murfreesboro and served as past president of the 4th district of Tennessee Dental Association. Together with Kerry Slicker, Professional Relations Coordinator at Middle Tennessee Oral and Implant Surgery, the two embarked on a lofty quest.
“Very current and relevant classes, backed by the technology manufacturers are creating, along with a chance to see it and touch it are what this show’s about,” said Mountain in describing events scheduled for November 20.
Middle Tennessee Oral and Implant Surgery, Middle Tennessee Society for Advanced Dentistry Study Club, the 4th District Study Club and Benco Dental, the largest privately-owned dental company in the United States, are counted among the biggest names in the industry as presenting sponsors, including: Procter & Gamble/Oral B, 3M, Dentsply, Vatech America, Coltène Whaledent, Delta Dental, Biohorizons and Carecredit. More than 50 manufacturers will be on site and educational speakers will include Robert C. Fazio, DMD; Allen Boghosian, DDS; Stephen K. Malone, DMD; Phillip L. Parham Jr., DMD, MS; and Fred Molz, PhD.
Mountain, with 21 years of industry experience, first introduced Benco Dental to the Nashville dental community nearly five years ago and has been helping local dentists, dental specialists and their teams by increasing the practice bottom line and serving all of their dental material and equipment needs.
The entire dental team, from practitioner to hygienists, dental assistants to office managers, are invited and encouraged to attend. Classes begin at 8 a.m. and continue the entire day. Exhibits will be open throughout the Extravaganza and extend beyond classroom hours, until 9 p.m. Cost for the event is $5 per class.
