Known for its company motto,”We deliver success smile after smile®” Benco Dental normally goes beyond bringing satisfaction to oral health care professionals with its support for the communities and families it serves.

Its latest endeavor is no exception.

Thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of Benco Dental interns, nonprofit organizations across the nation will smile as well. In the case of Victoria Simone Reyes’ project, some of those beneficiaries will be rescue pups like Valencia (shown above).

“As part of their internship, the sales interns are working on a community give back project,” said Julia Amendola Culture & People, Senior Talent Specialist at the nation’s largest privately owned dental distribution company.

The Flanders, New Jersey resident recently created a crowdfunding page: https://www.gofundme.com/bencogives2nybc in support of the New York Bully Crew, a nonprofit dog rescue organization with which she shares  a personal connection.

“I am personally very affected by this situation because I volunteered for a no-kill animal shelter for six years, and saw firsthand how difficult it is to addresson a daily basis the thousands of cases which truly need attention. My heart was broken when, despite their best efforts and tirelessly hard work, Noah’s Ark was forced for close for similar reasons that NYBC (New York Bully Crew) is facing today,” said Reyes.

“New York Bully Crew would give anything until the last moment to extend their reach to save as many lives as possible, and I want to do everything in my power to help them and give these loyal and wonderful animals the homes that they deserve,” she added.

With that in mind Reyes organized an outreach through Benco Dental, to support the dog rescue. The crowdfunding drive will continue throughout July.

New York Bully Crew is a 501c3 not-for-profit rescue organization founded in December 2010. Though based on Long Island, NYBC’s outreach is nationwide. They specialize in rescuing bully breeds from the worst conditions, however no animal in dire need of rescue is turned away, according to their website. Finding the loving and responsible homes that each and every rescued dog deserves is their main objective.

“Their vet bills have skyrocketed recently, and their nonprofit status means they only receive money through donations,” explained Reyes. “I started a Gofundme page with details on specific cases and currently one update with the most recent. Our support will be matched by Benco Dental and save them from having to close their doors.”

Reyes shared additional details of the most recent case, “The spike started when they rescued six puppies from a shelter in North Carolina. Upon their arrival to NYBC it was discovered the pets had contracted Parvo, an oftentimes fatal disease in puppies. The entire litter immediately underwent extensive treatment to fight for their lives. On average, a one-night stay for a single puppy being treated for Parvo is around $1,000. With the treatment, vet stay, and follow-up care for the entire litter, the bill rose to over $14,000.”

Valencia, mentioned earlier and shown above, who was rescued along with the pups from North Carolina, arrived with an extreme case of mange, an excruciatingly painful and highly contagious skin disease caused by mites. Thanks to immediate treatment there she is  recovering well, but her bill has added to the financial hardship.

“I’m so thankful for their (Benco Dental’s) support with this project, plus it makes every dollar that YOU can donate even more valuable!
