In the dental profession, it takes a team effort to make the experience for dental patients a positive one. Multi-talented Dental Assistants make vital contributions to teams all around the country. This week, March 6 to 12, recognizes the incredible work they do every day. The 2022 theme chosen by the American Dental Assistants Association is: Passionate about our patients, Dedicated to our profession.

“The theme for 2022 acknowledges the growing importance of dentistry’s role in health care and the responsibilities of dental assistants. Dental Assistants are a key part of the dental practice year-round and strengthen the entire practice and enhance patient satisfaction. Dental Assistants are committed to professional development and quality dental care.”

American Dental Assistants Association

A fitting theme for a career that encompasses so much, as Dental Assistants take part in functions in all parts of the practice. They can be the first face patients see when walking in the dental office and will be alongside the dentist the entire time there is a procedure being done, making sure everything runs smoothly.

Wondering how you can celebrate the Dental Assistants in your life?

Here are just a few ways to recognize the hard work and dedication of your team members:

  • Decorate your practice to recognize Dental Assistants.
  • Give them a gift. The ADAA offers Dental Assistants Recognition Week merchandise to help thank your team and raise awareness for Dental Assistants Recognition Week.
  • Post about your assistants on social media, write a blog, or send out an email recognizing their hard work and accomplishments.
  • Take a task or two off their hands this week in the office.
  • Pay their yearly licensing fees.
  • Nominate them for a Lucy Hobbs Project Award, presented by Benco Dental: https://www.incisaledgemagazine.com/contests/

Although this week recognizes all the talents and skills dental assistants dedicate to their patients and teams, it’s important to remember their integral role on dental teams all year long. Dental Assistants are the heart of a dental practice and are needed now more than ever. Make sure to show your Dental Assistants appreciation this week… and then every week after that, too.
