Cigarette smoking remains the leading cause of preventable disease and death in the United States, according to the CDC. Today, dental professionals must be cognizant of not just of the effects of cigarette smoking, but also marijuana and electronic cigarettes. When patients are using substances that are detrimental to the oral cavity, it is important to have conversations on the severity of impact on the oral cavity.
