On his “learning journey” Amir Aghdaei has traveled quite a distance from his first days of college at age 16 in Iran.

“Being a lot younger than everybody else, you were always treated as a little bit of a geek–not fitting the profile. I couldn’t drive…but I was good at mathematics. Whatever shortcoming I had in popularity, I compensated for through education and people befriended me because they they I could help them with homework.”

Envista CEO Amir Aghdaei FINDS THE HUMOR IN LIFE AS A 16-year-old Undergrad

Today as Envista’s founding President and CEO, Aghdaei drives the company’s overall vision, drawing on more than a decade of leadership experience at Danaher.

A global executive with extensive international and multi-industry experience, Aghdaei has lived and worked in multiple countries and brings a depth of business experience from around the world. He has a track record of delivery in both growing and transforming businesses.

This student of change earned his undergraduate degree in Tehran, when the “spirit of revolution” shifted life as he knew it to that point. In Atlanta, Georgia, his entry point to the U.S. a few years later in the early 1980s, he found himself at another epicenter of transformation.

“A lot of people were moving to the city and it was shifting and changing. Andrew Young was the mayor of the city, the first Black official… I found it easy to get integrated and well versed in changes.”

One vital lesson he took from these experiences, among others in his journey:

“Over time you recognize you can make an impact wherever you are, and it doesn’t have to be where you grew up.”
