Benco Dental sponsors the Seattle Study Club award program in support of local dentists who value the education and peer support that Seattle Study Club provides.

The nation’s largest privately owned dental distributor sponsors a grant to offset the cost of Seattle Study Club membership fees.

The 2018 Seattle Study Club award in Rhode Island was presented to Dr. Ricci on December 12, 2017.

Dr. Eric J. Ricci earned a Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston in 2017. Immediately following, he joined his father Dr. John R. Ricci in practice at Ricci Family Dentistry, Providence, Rhode Island.

According to the practice website, growing up in Lincoln, Rhode Island, Dr. Eric always dreamed of becoming a dentist just like his father. He attended Saint Anselm College where he earned an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in History and successfully completed the Pre-Dental program.

Dr. Eric  later attended Rhode Island College and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Biology, performing research, under the direction of Dr. Eric Roberts, that resulted in the discovery of a cuticle (the outermost, waxy layer of certain plants) on the species of moss, Physcomitrella patens.

Dr. Eric J. Ricci’s next move? Joining the 2015 Seattle Study Club of the Year

Providence Dental Study Club, a group of restorative and specialty dentists who practice in the state of Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts, in 2015  earned a commendation as the Seattle Study Club of the Year from among more than 250  clubs in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Japan, China, and Spain.

The Providence Dental Study Club is affiliated with the Seattle Study Club network under the direction of Dr. Michael Cohen and is accredited by the American Academy of General Dentistry.

When not leading the team at Rhode Island Periodontics, Providence Dental Study Club Director Daniel K. Coleman, D.D.S.,  is a faculty member at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he serves as a clinical instructor in the department of Periodontology.  A 2016 Incisal Edge 40 Under 40 honoree, Dr. Coleman is the author of “Non-Surgical Control of Periodontal Diseases” a textbook used for the education of dental students.
