When Dr. Maria Szmigiel decided to create a new dental home for her patients in Plattsburgh, New York, their comfort and trust in the Gentle Touch Family Dentistry team took top priority.

Delivering an environment of warmth and confidence inspired her vision from the beginning. Dr. Szmigiel worked with the team at Benco Dental, including CenterPoint Designers, Equipment Specialists, Service Technicians and Territory Reps.

Says Dr. Szmigiel:

“Trust is when you deliver something that you say you will. For me, my goal is that the patients, when they come in, they come here, they feel good, they feel they can trust… they know they are going to get what we promise they are going to get. They leave the office and say ‘Wow, that was A+ treatment…. This was awesome.'”

On September 8 the Gentle Touch team greeted patients for the first time at their new location, 67 Smithfield Boulevard, Plattsburgh, New York 12901 with that positive energy – and a number of amenities.

Offerings designed to make patient visits as relaxing as possible include:

  • Aromatherapy and hot scented towels
  • Cozy blankets and soft pillows
  • Soft music
  • Complimentary refreshments
  • Movies in each treatment room

“The right people can create such an amazing feel to others and that’s what I want, I want that connection…I want people to come in because we are who we are, and we are people that go above and beyond to create that amazing patient experience. And the team is awesome,” said Dr. Szmigiel, who earned her dental degree with honors from Boston University Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry in 1996 and has continued in her quest for clinical knowledge ever since.

She has achieved certifications in Invisalign®, Lumineers™ and sedation dentistry and completed a residency in implant placement and restoration

“I have lived in many beautiful places in the world, but Plattsburgh became my home. Over the years, I have grown fond of many of the area’s attributes. A beautiful environment, caring people, a strong sense of community, and family values have convinced me that Plattsburgh is the perfect place to raise my children and play an active role in the community,” said the practitioner who spent her youth with her family in Poland, Africa and Canada.

“Dentistry runs in our family DNA, as my father, my uncle, my aunt, and my grandmother are all dentists. These passionate people have inspired in me the desire to achieve excellence and help patients improve their dental health. That’s why, at age 20, I setout on a new venture and took the first step toward realizing my dream of becoming a dentist. I decided to move to the United States and attend one of the top schools in the country.”
