In just 10 days, with a crew smaller than the average baseball team roster, a transformation took place in the mountains of Pennsylvania.

“We replaced 26 operatories, five sterilization centers, five pans (panoramic radiographs), built a OneVisit™ lab (for CAD/CAM) and a scanning room,” said Scott Bird (shown below left), District Service Manager, Northeast for Benco Dental.

Sound implausible?

Not if you’ve got the A-team on your side, according to Bird, (above left) who celebrates 14 years this month with the nation’s largest privately owned dental distributor.

“As soon as it (the equipment) came off the truck we rolled it out here. Our biggest challenge: We would install so much so fast that we’d run out of equipment, ” said Bird, a Forked River, New Jersey resident.

Included in the crew of 17 Benco Dental Service Technicians who traveled in from seven of the companies regions of dental equipment service coverage to dedicate their talents on the project was a core group with super powers.

“The A-team is a group of Service Techs whose strength is equipment installation. They are so good at what they do,” Bird explains.

“A job that will take most people five days takes them only three.”

Within the past 86 years, the company has grown from a single downtown location to a national network of more than 65 regional locations, five distribution centers, and three design showrooms.  Those design showrooms, one at the company’s Pa. headquarters, one in Southern California, and one in Texas, feature North America’s largest selection of dental equipment and technology, as well as a hands-on dental design experience, to assist dentists in the planning and construction of a new office.

That date was no coincidence, it aligned with the annual three-day Benco Equipment Forum, followed by dentistry’s comprehensive design workshop – Build Your Future, which will take be hosted August 17-18, and feature keynote speaker Tristan Hamilton DDS, M. Arch, one of America’s only architect-dentists.

Benco’s two-day Build Your Future workshop helps dentists create a new work space that is both efficient and beautiful. Topics include space planning, financing, practice development/marketing, construction management, and interior design.

Larry Cohen, Benco Dental Chairman and Chief Customer Service Advocate, share insight on the CenterPoint East showroom renovation, which in addition to the equipment features all new finishes, floor coverings, wall coverings, lighting among other interior design aspects:

“It is a huge job and I have been around watching it come together. The new showroom is going to be fabulous and, I promise, you all will be delighted. I am especially proud of the Benco Service Techs who have been working on this job the past several weeks. The Service Team is an extremely important part of the Benco offering —  a key ingredient of The Benco Difference.
