At the upcoming Kicks for Kids tournament in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
There, on April 29, the nation’s fastest growing national dental distribution company will help support a program that offers local children from low-income families a traditional summer camp experience.
Benco Dental will be represented in two ways at the kickball tournament fundraiser for United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s Project Hope.
Associates from Benco Dental will comprise two teams (20 people) competing on the field, and the company’s Talent Specialists Carrie Krott and Sarah Lucas will keep the event rolling as members of the UNC Young Professional Auxiliary Board (YPAB).
Krott, who leads the charge as the Kicks for Kids co-chair, joined the Board, an active advisory group for the UNC Board of Directors. in 2011.
The YPAB’s first goal: getting the word out to the community about the work being done by United Neighborhood Centers, as well as supporting the performance of that work.
“When I joined Benco in 2015, I worked to introduce UNC to Benco Dental with the hope that Benco would focus volunteer efforts around them. Because of Benco’s amazing culture, focus on community involvement and volunteerism, they were happy to form a new partnership,” says Krott.
“The Kicks for Kids event connects people of all ages back to their childhood through the beloved game of kickball and, through that, to the cause of providing local children with a magical summer camp experience,” says Krott. “I am honored to be able to shine a light on this awesome event.”
Krott explains the event details. “The tournament is set up bracket-style, meaning the more you win, the longer you play. Teams will play a minimum of four games. The winner of the initial brackets will go on to the next round, and so on, until we have the overall Kicks for Kids champion team. The winning team goes home with a trophy, individual medals, and bragging rights.”
United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC) will host the third annual Kicks for Kids kickball tournament on Saturday, April 29 at 9:30 a.m. at Scranton High School’s Valor Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The tournament, which is open to teams of all ages, raises funds for the agency’s Project Hope Summer Camp, which provides local children from low-income families the opportunity to have a magical camp experience at UNC’s Camp Kelly.
Project Hope offers children a traditional summer camp experience in addition to team-building skills, leadership skills, the opportunity to make lasting friendship, and two solid meals (which are sometimes the only meals these children receive) per day, according to United Neighborhood Centers of Northeast Pennsylvania.
