On a daily basis you most likely monitor everything from the weather to your available funds and quickly satisfy your news, networking, shopping, music and caffeine fixes, all with mobile apps.

Why not check your compliance with infection prevention practices?

The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers a new mobile application (app) — CDC DentalCheck — to assist dental facilities with monitoring compliance with recommended infection prevention practices, according to www.OSAP.org

In their InfoBites report today, the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) shared the good news that dental professionals are able to download CDC’s DentalCheck app free through the iTunes App Store for use on any iOS enabled mobile device, such as a smartphone or iPad.

The infection prevention coordinator and other staff trained in infection prevention are encouraged to use this app at least annually to assess the status of their administrative policies and practices, and also engage in direct observation of personnel and patient-care practices.

How can it work for you?

  • Check Yes/No to acknowledge compliance with a list of administrative policies or observed practices.
  • Get a summary of basic infection prevention principles and recommendations for dental health care settings.
  • Gain the ability to export results for records management.
  • Use links to full guidelines and source documents when referencing more detailed background and recommendations.
