A dental clinic-on-wheels providing affordable, high-quality dental care to underserved members of the community will be in the neighborhood in January.

The Zufall Dental Van, a mobile dental clinic which debuted in 2016, will visit the Montclair area of northwestern New Jersey on January 12 and 26, and on a number of additional dates through April, 2017.

According to Dr. Sam Wakim, chief dental officer at Zufall Community Health Center, the dental van had long been on the wish list at the nonprofit community health center. Having provided limited dental services on Zufall’s medical van for some time, he said a sustainable, efficient solution was needed to improve patients’ access and provide them with a permanent dental home.

The clinic-on-wheels  played a key role on November 17 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey,  at the community health center’s largest event(shown) in conjunction with National Rural NRHD Logo_Noember19,2015Health Day where free dental services and medical screenings were offered to more than 44 dental and 70 medical patients.

During the upcoming daytime events in Essex County, full mouth X-rays and comprehensive exams will be  $40 for those uninsured and eligible for sliding fee scale, said Zufall Health Director of Outreach and Special Populations Michelle Blanchfield, MPH.

She noted that the first visit is always a full mouth x-ray and comprehensive exam.  Cleanings, filling, extractions, partials, and other services are available during follow-up visits.

To pre-register, or gain additional information for those events: Contact Adeola at (973) 328-9100 ext 286 or email her at aowoiya@zufallhealth.org .  The Zufall Dental van accepts NJ Family Care, Medicaid, and those with no private dental insurance.  Se habla Español.
