During her nearly six years in the U.S. Navy, Judy Harvey traveled the world. She served in the Middle East and Japan, visited Italy, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Hawaii, Guam, Mexico and went thru the Panama Canal.

Now, she most enjoys the view of the tree-lined streets near her home in Kingston, Pennsylvania. Nearby, Judy spends her working hours “delivering success, smile after smile” with Benco Dental at the dental distributor’s home office, CenterPoint East, in Pittston, Pennsylvania.

“In my travels in the Navy, I came to realize how fortunate we are to live in the USA with all of our freedoms and an above-average standard of living that many people have never experienced,” said Harvey, 51, who joined the Benco Dental team on February 15, as a Customer Experience Specialist.

“I served my first tour at Sea, aboard USS CAPE COD AD-43, deployed at sea for 6 months (Western Pacific) with a home port at San Diego, CA. I served a second tour at Shore, at SACLANT, NATO Command in Norfolk, Virginia,” she said.

City & State PA magazine (www.cityandstatepa.com) recently invited Judy, a U.S. Navy Veteran, to share insights regarding her career journey. Her commentary will be included in the magazine’s upcoming story about veteran employment resources.

Benco Dental Culture & People Talent Manager Becky Clouse-Mickey shared perspective.

“Currently the Benco Dental team includes nearly 100 veterans employed nationwide. Those active within the reserves appreciate our veteran-friendly benefits, including paid leave of absence for annual required training. As with all of our associates, we appreciate the work that they do and welcome them into the Benco family!”

Speaking of family, Harvey’s appreciation for the U.S. Navy and Benco Dental share that as a common theme.

“I met my husband in the Navy!” said Harvey, who described the most memorable aspect of service to her country as crossing paths with her spouse.

No surprise that her favorite spot in the Benco Dental home office — the company’s canteen– reflects that topic as well.

I love Kitty’s Kitchen and it’s family atmosphere,” she added.

On Veterans Day and every day, TheDailyFloss.com offers gratitude to all the military women and men who have dedicated themselves in service to our country.
