If you said yes, it might be linked to your workplace being certified green by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Workers in buildings that are certified green by the U.S. Green Building Council are happier and healthier than those who work in buildings that are not green certified. This finding, reported in Green Building Elements, comes from researchers at Harvard’s School of Public Health and New York’s Upstate Medical University.

More than 500 associates working at the home office of the nation’s largest privately owned dental distributor should know. Benco Dental’s CenterPoint East, in Northeast Pennsylvania, is Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, meeting some of the highest standards set forth by the United States Green Building Council.

The company’s CenterPoint Design team features LEED certified office designers who work with doctors to build low-impact practices that they can feel good about.

According to the team at Benco Dental, being environmentally-friendly is something they take to heart.

“At Benco Dental, green means continuously discovering and implementing methods to reduce our facilities’ environmental impact,” said Barry Hendrickson, LEED Green Associate and Benco Dental Equipment Logistics Coordinator.

Many of our nationwide distribution and office facilities employ energy-efficient lighting and low-water usage fixtures. Our 300+ service technicians are guided by a scheduling software that promotes efficiency,” said Hendrickson.

Support for the study was provided by United Technologies, which makes heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems, and control networks for green certified buildings.
