Adam Moses loves Ohio – and oral health care. When offered the opportunity to connect the two, he ran with it.

In July, the sales intern with Benco Dental reached out to dentists in the Cleveland area and together they offered support to largest food bank in Northeast Ohio.

Through the commitment of Dr. Mark Worford (shown, inset) and Dr. Chester Bizga (shown, above), Moses’ Christmas in July-themed food drive netted 117 cans and non-perishable food items for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. The Benco Family Foundation matched each donation with $1, so the organization received an additional $117.

According to The Greater Cleveland Food Bank website, its efforts in 2015 provided 47.8 million meals  to hungry people in Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Ashland and Richland counties. Their efforts are ongoing through both food distribution and outreach efforts. The Food Bank operates a community food distribution center, which provides food and other critical grocery products annually to more than 800 local food pantries, hot meal programs, shelters, mobile pantries, programs for the elderly and other nonprofit agencies.

“As part of their internship, the sales interns are working on a community give back project,” said Julia Amendola Culture & People, Senior Talent Specialist at the nation’s largest privately owned dental distribution company.

Moses, who dedicated volunteer hours to the community during his high school years, said he is grateful for a new opportunity for outreach.

“This was my first experience being able to run and plan a giveback project. I learned a lot along the way about what makes a giveback project successful and what I can do better next time I have the opportunity to plan another one.”

With the support of two Cleveland area dentists, Benco Dental Sales Intern Adam Moses organized a July food drive to benefit The Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

The Ohio University student recently presented his project results at a Benco Dental regional meeting in the Ohio Valley.

“I have had an amazing time so far during my internship this summer. My manager Eric Cooney has helped me develop a lot and I can’t wait to take back everything I’ve learned at Benco to the (Ralph and Luci) Schey Sales Centre at Ohio University when I get back!”
