How does Dr. Matt Huff manage to dedicate his efforts to three central Texas practices, raise four sons with his wife Rebecah, and stay commited to a lifestyle of health and fitness?

Take on the lead role in a national marketing campaign for an innovative new product.

“Acting/modeling is a love of mine. I actually took a day off work to shoot this commercial,” said the 39-year-old practitioner. “This only adds to my life experience; it doesn’t take away from any of my  dentistry. They say ‘A bow strung too tight loses its spring.’ A little break helps me refocus.”

He added, “I believe in using the moments; you will find plenty of time to do everything you want to do in life.”

In this instance, those “moments” include eight hours of video shoots at several locations for goLock, an electronic alarm and security system created for outdoor equipment. Paddling a kayak on water, cycling a woodsy trail, four-wheeling with a loyal four-legged companion – that’s where you’ll see Dr. Huff onscreen.

“This required me to channel my rugged side,” he joked. “I’m normally a T-shirt, jeans and sports coat kind of guy, or dressed to the nines. It depends on what I’m doing.”

He references a recent runway stint at a  fundraising fashion show to benefit breast cancer patients via Stiletto Stampede, where he modeled the custom clothing line by RB Haberdashery.

In his most recent venture, cast through the Capital Factory Production Agency in Austin, Dr. Huff offers a performance for a commercial geared to gain awareness in the marketplace and among investors for goLock. As part of the video, company founder Steve Jones explains the concept and introduces a fundraising campaign.  Should someone attempt to steal your gear (bikes, kayaks, coolers, four-wheel utility vehicles), goLock alerts its owner immediately via a smartphone app, and warns everyone in the vicinity that a theft is occurring.

“I enjoyed every second of the process. It isn’t my first commercial, though it is my first as the lead and sole voice and acting talent. The team had everything meticulously planned out. It was very structured.”

An added benefit: his oldest son James was able to participate. “We had a great bonding time together, and he got paid as well.”

Up next?

It’s full speed ahead for Dr. Huff, whose top priority in March is the exam to earn Diplomate status in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

His fans needn’t worry, he’ll be back on set before long. In 2017, Dr. Huff will take part in a short film with plans for release at film festivals across the country.
