Today, the @WSJ Wall Street Journal reflects on a virtual-reality experience in a new exhibition at The Dali Museum in Florida, Disney and Dali: Architects of the Imagination, which spotlights the relationship between renowned artists.

Those unfamiliar with the collaboration of Salvador Dali and Walt Disney on an animated short film “Destino,” originally created between 1945 and 1948, might also be surprised at a glimpse into the archives of these great imaginators and inventors.

Dali’s unique perspective translated into jewelry, including the brooch he designed after starlet Marilyn Monroe, which is shown above: “Ruby Lips with Teeth Like Pearls.”

The Manhattan Art & Antique Center @maac_nyc waxes poetic on the creation, featured at its Leah Gordon Gallery:

“Between 1940 and 1970, the iconic surrealist painter created 39 truly original jewelry designs that blur the line between art and spectacle, as Dali often did.”

“Dali mused ‘Poets of the ages, of all lands, write of ruby lips and teeth like pearls.’ It remained for him to translate this poetic cliché into a true surrealistic object.”

The glamorous recreation serves as a reminder that while smiles are works of art unto themselves, when entrusted to true visionaries, they can evolve into beauty beyond compare.
