One Indianapolis dentist answered the call “to reach out to those in need, at home and abroad, with a program of essential dental care and life support services that include skills training focused on helping women and children live healthy, purposeful lives.

Dr. Esther Ghebremichael founded STAR for a STAR, a not-for-profit entity of Star Dental Clinic, LLC, a dental services provider located in Indianapolis.

She shared recently with thedailyfloss.com: “At STAR for a STAR, a not-for-profit dental services provider, we have committed ourselves to conducting a mission in two refugee camps in Northern Ethiopia.  We plan to serve the needs of 20,000 people in just a few days.  No, we’re not solving all the world’s problems, but we’re making a difference for them.”

For this short-term dental mission trip serving Eritrean refugees in Ethiopia in October of this year, Dr. Ghebremichael is seeking support in the form of dental supplies and instruments.

“We will be doing: extractions, restorations, cleanings, dental education, root canal on anterior dentition (minimal) and we are in the midst of possibly getting a lab technician to go with us,” said Dr. Ghebremichael.
