With both the American Association of Endodontists (April 6 –8) and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (April 21-24) annual sessions situated in Seattle, what better time for a private tour to help visitors make the most of their visit to the Emerald City? Founder of the Seattle Study Club, Dr. Michael Cohen offers Incisal Edge dental lifestyle magazine insight on standard tourist attractions, celebrated supper spots, art, artifacts and adventure that his fair city has to offer.

“Seattle is said to have been built on seven hills: Beacon, Queen Anne, Capitol, Denny, Cherry, Yesler and First. These days, the neighborhoods associated with each are distinct, and all of them are worth exploring.

This is a relatively recent development. As late as the 1880s, Seattle was a sleepy logging town with just 3,500 residents. Today the city proper has a population of 650,000; the metro area is home to 4.2 million, about two-thirds of the entire population of Washington State,” Dr. Cohen tells Incisal Edge readers.

One suggestion: the ferry to Bainbridge Island, one of the most beautiful spots in Puget Sound. Each 35-minute leg costs $8 ($4 for kids age 6 and up); once on the island, you can rent a bike or simply stroll around the shops and cafes. On your return trip, marvel at the peerless view of Seattle’s skyline.
