Last week a complete highway shutdown took place in Alabama because a truck driver veered off the road.

The reason, according to reuters.com: the 57-year-old trucker was yanking free his loose tooth.

Though the accident caused no serious injuries, it resulted in a miles-long backup on Interstate 20/59 near Tuscaloosa and delays that lasted into the Monday morning rush hour, as reported by Birmingham News.

“The driver stated he lost control when he was pulling a tooth with his hands,” an Alabama Highway Patrol incident report said, according to the newspaper. “He had the tooth in his shirt pocket as proof.”

Good thing. If not, the “but, officer” story would’ve been a whopper.
