That’s the sentiment about their vendor partners that Benco Dental, the largest privately-owned dental company in the United States, hopes to share in its 2013 annual report.

Five hundred forty-four. That’s the total number of vendors who enable Benco Dental to offer a full array of supplies, equipment and services to dentists across the nation. In a presentation reminiscent of the 1977 NY tourism advertising campaign, the 2013 annual report of the family-owned enterprise honors the companies who help offer an effortless experience to customers.

Benco Dental Managing Directors Charles and Richard Cohen dedicate the report to those vendors in their letter of introduction: “Imagine empty Benco boxes. Unanswered technical support lines. Cancelled dental meetings.
It’s what dentistry would be like without our vendor partners, companies that invest millions to develop and support products that improve practitioner productivity and patient care.”

The publication touts each of the 544 companies by name, and shares vignettes that offer a glimpse into five individual stories that inspire:

gcamerica

GC Corporation Prostho Research Center, designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates, houses advanced laboratory and office facilities in Kasugai, Japan. Its exhibition space served as host location for the commemoration of the company’s 50th anniversary.

A technology-driven enterprise, Aribex, Inc., delivers a seemingly impossible concept into the hands of dentists worldwide;

A global dental giant, GC Corporation,  prepares itself for its 100th birthday by focusing on ‘what’s next’;

An innovator, Tuttnauer, refines the sterilization process to support infection control on a global scale;

An organization, Septodont, subscribes to a mantra of ‘extreme customer service’ to sustain patient comfort on a daily basis;

A manufacturer, L&R Ultrasonics, faces destruction head-on and doubles down on its commitment to its people; and

A corporation, Midmark, guided by a physician invests in research to improve the diagnoses for dental office equipment.

With four manufacturing plants, three research center and over 1,200 employees, dental anesthetic manufacturer Septodont is constantly investing in the future.

Benco Dental’s annual report concludes with a shout out to “the great people who do great work” —  a page featuring more than 1,300 associates — along with the mission, vision, and values that drive “The Benco Difference”: “We deliver a painless and innovative customer experience that improves the business engines, life balance, and patient care of dental professionals. We leverage leading-edge technologies, expert Success Partners, and our caring family culture. We choose listening over telling, a broad array of products and services over restrictive exclusives, and an insightful solution over an easy sale.”
